Initiatives toward a Better Work-Life Balance

The Company has introduced a number of programs to support individual employee work-styles and create a “friendly work environment” in which individuals can fully demonstrate their abilities. It is working to encourage employees learn about and take advantage of them.

Action plan

The Company has introduced the following action plan, based on the “Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising the Next-Generation of Children,” aimed at creating a work environment in which employees can exercise their abilities and strike a comfortable balance between work and life:

  1. Period:Two years from April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2017
  2. Content
Goal 1Deepen employee understanding of the support the Company offers to help them establish a balance between work and childrearing, and encourage more than one male employee to take childcare leave during the period.
<Measures>
  • Prepare a guidebook during the period to programs offering support for childrearing to promote employee understanding.
  • Publish articles on the experiences of employees who took childcare leave in the in-house newsletter to share them Companywide.
Goal 2Increase employee awareness of work-style options and the support the Company offers for childrearing and nursing care for elderly parents, and develop new initiatives in these areas.
<Measures>
  • Prepare a guidebook during the period to programs offering support for childrearing and nursing care for elderly parents to promote employee understanding.
  • Establish a system during the period to promote understanding of the work-styles of employees returning to work among their colleagues and managers, and provide counseling to support the employees’ career development.
Goal 3Implement measures to decrease total working hours and reduce health risks.
<Measures>
  • Adhere strictly during the period to the policy of eliminating weekly overtime days, and limit total overtime working hours.
  • Implement measures during the period to encourage employees to take their annual paid holidays.
