OOH (out-of-home) media are attracting more attention than ever today as adjuncts to the traditional mass media.

The Tokyu railroad system serving the so-called “Tokyu Area” carries among the largest number of passengers of any in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area. The residents of the Tokyu Area are comparatively affluent people with a keen interest in collecting information. These residents select only information that is of particular interest to them, evaluate it based on their own individual criteria, and store and use that information they consider most worthwhile.

As the home to these information-savvy residents, the Tokyu Area has earned a reputation as an important target audience for determining the fate of new products. The towns along the Tokyu Line, most notably the major Tokyo sub-center of Shibuya, are popular venues for marketing activities.
